TUSCALOOSA, AL – Shelton State Fine Arts presents Peter and the Starcatcher April 15-19 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405).

This story takes audiences on a magical journey that explores the longing for adventure and the discovery of one's true home. It reminds viewers that home can be found in the most unexpected places, within ourselves and in the bonds we create. The play provides a backstory for the characters of Peter Pan, Mrs. Darling, Tinker Bell, and Hook. It serves as a prequel to J. M. Barrie's Peter and Wendy.

This cast includes performers returning to the Bean-Brown stage: Nicholas Pappas as “Black Stache,” Jackson Blankenship as “Boy,” Michael Green as “Prentiss,” Margaret Carr as “Smee,” Bradley Logan as “Lord Leonard Aster,” Donald Falls II* as “Captain Robert Falcon Scott,” Averie Bonneville* as “Mrs. Bumbrake,” Chloe Canterbury as “Mack,” Wescott Youngson as “Bill Slank,” Heather Gann as “Grempkin,” Elana Woodall as “Sanchez,” Glen Johnson as “Fighting Prawn,” Meredith Vaughn as “Hawking Clam,” and Lilly Grantham, Lizzie LuLue, and Colby Skinner in the ensemble. Newcomers include Bailee Henderson as “Molly Aster,” Cade Woodward as “Ted,” Joshua DeBell as “Alf,” Hillary Maddox as “Teacher,” and Hannah Wilks* in the ensemble.

Molly Page, Shelton State’s Theatre Program Coordinator, directs this production. She is joined by Jeanette Waterman, costume designer; Nicholas Pappas, musical director; Amber Beck*, stage manager; Dr. Elijah Pugh, band leader; Katy-Mei Williams*, properties designer; Therrin Eber, scenic designer; and Alex Scott Thomas, lighting designer.

“This is going to be one of your favorite shows. The title may not be familiar to you, but if you love the story of Peter Pan, this is a must see,” Page said. “You will catch so many nods to the original story you know and love.”

Performance dates are as follows: Wednesday-Saturday, April 15-18, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 19, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets will be $15.00 for the public and $8.00 for Shelton State students. Seating will be general admission.
