“BIG FISH” AUDITIONS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 2 & 3

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold open auditions for Big Fish May 2 and 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405).
This musical recounts the mythical life of Edward Bloom and the bedtime stories he tells his son, Will. It is a story of a father nearing the end of his life and wanting to reconnect with his family. Set in Alabama, Big Fish celebrates the power of storytelling and the enduring bonds that tie us together, while exploring the complexities of the relationship between father and son.
Big Fish will be led by Michael Walker, director, Cole Cabiness, choreographer, Leslie Poss, musical director; Ashlyn Lambert, stage manager; Therrin Eber, scenic designer; Jeanette Waterman, costume designer; and Caleb Stroman, lighting designer.
Big Fish has numerous roles available for all ages, genders, and races. A few roles are available for children 10 and older. Auditioners should prepare a 60 second song of contemporary musical theatre or in the style of Big Fish. The audition will also include cold reads from the script. Auditions will begin at 1:30 p.m. with slots available until 2:30 p.m. There will be a dance call immediately following auditions at 2:30 p.m. The dance call is required to be considered for a role. Callbacks for Big Fish will be held on Monday, May 4, at 6:00 p.m.
The final rehearsal schedule will be announced after casting, but rehearsals are tentatively scheduled to begin on May 18 and will generally run 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday evenings and some weekends until closer to performance weeks. Big Fish performances run July 17-26, 2026, in the Bean-Brown Theatre.
