“HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS” AUDITIONS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 5 AND 6

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold open auditions for “Home for the Holidays” by Michael Walker and Josh Levine, Oct. 5 & 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road).

This world-premiere, family-friendly holiday show features songs and jazz standards inspired by 1940’s USO tours. This show will contain familiar Christmas songs like “Holly, Jolly Christmas,” “Silver Bells,” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas!” Based in Tuscaloosa, this new brand-new musical is being crafted specifically for our local audiences and talent.

Theatre Tuscaloosa’s Executive Producer, Michael Walker leads this production as director and playwright. He is joined by Therrin Eber, scenic designer; Alex Thomas, lighting designer; Cole Cabiness, choreographer; Nicholas Vasilos Pappas, vocal music director; Osiris Molina, orchestra music director; Eli Pugh, music orchestrator; Wheeler Kincaid, technical director; and Jeanette Waterman, costume designer.

“Home for the Holidays” has various roles available including the following: Don (male, 40-65), Jack/Soldier 2 (male, 40-65), Mary/Annie (female, 40-65), Joan/Piper (female, 25-40), Kenny/Soldier 1 (male, 25-40), Frederick (male, 35-40), Maxene (female, 18-30), Patty (female, 18-30), and Judine (female, 18-30), Finley (male, 18-30), Ensemble (male, 18-30). Those who want to audition should come prepared to sing a one minute long holiday song and participate in cold readings from the script. A physical copy of the sides will be available at the audition. Memorization of the sides is not required. There is a dance call for those who wish to be an ensemble dancer. Actors are encouraged to dress accordingly.

Scripts of “Home for the Holidays” are available to read in the Theatre Tuscaloosa Management Office in advance (recommended); however, scripts may not leave the premises. The office is open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon. Please note that the script may change throughout the rehearsal process.

The final rehearsal schedule will be announced after casting. Rehearsals will generally run 6-9 p.m. Monday through Friday until closer to performance weeks. No conflicts will be accepted for dates after December 2, 2026. “Home for the Holidays” performances run Dec. 11-20, 2026 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College.
