ACTFest Participation & Registration

All current Alabama Conference of Theatre (ACT) members are welcome to attend all conference events including performances and workshops at no additional charge.  To join ACT, click here to visit the ACT website, or contact Cindy Harper, ACT's Executive Director, at or 205-483-ACT2.

ACTFest Presenting Companies

Community theatres from throughout Alabama are being encouraged to enter a production for presentation and adjudication.  The registration deadline is September 1, 2019.  Performance order is determined by random drawing. Here are the registered companies as of August 17, 2019:

  • Self Express Productions (Winfield) - Macbeth by William Shakespeare
  • Theatre Tuscaloosa - Love & Cheese Toast by Cooper Shattuck
  • South City Theatre (Pelham) - TBA
  • The Actor's Charitable Theatre (Tuscaloosa) - Buried Child by Sam Shepard
  • Spark Theatre Company (Dothan) - The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Book by Rachel Sheinkin, Music and Lyrics by William Finn, conceived by Rebecca Feldman

ACTFest Educational Workshops

This year, we will offer several workshops to help community theatre practitioners develop their skills in a variety of areas related to producing community theatre. Topics may include:

  • Acting
  • Directing
  • Fundraising
  • Stage Management
  • Costumes
  • Make-Up

If you would be interested in presenting a workshop, please click here to complete the workshop proposal form.  Workshop proposals are due by Tuesday, October 1, 2019, and those selected for presentation will be annouced by Friday, October 4, 2019.

A detailed schedule of rehearsals, performances, and educational workshops will be published as soon as possible after the performance registration deadline.
