Summer Camp 2016 Class Descriptions

June 13-24/ 8:15am-12:00pm M-F

KINDERGARTEN & FIRST GRADE

Act Your Age: An introductory acting class for young actors. Campers learn how to use their voices, bodies, and imaginations to create different characters (Teacher: Mary Kathryn Mathews)

 

Music of the Theatre: Calling all singers! Campers will learn proper singing techniques such as breathing and voice placement as they learn songs from popular musicals. During the second week, campers will learn choreography in Dance! for one of the songs, creating one complete musical number! (Teacher: Merry Livingston)

 

Imagination Express: Kids love to use their imaginations! This class will allow the campers to channel their imaginations through various improvisation games and exercises (Teacher: Lindsey Jones)

 

Dance!: Calling all dancers! Campers are taught proper dance techniques as they learn choreography for several songs from popular musicals. During the second week, campers will learn to sing one of their pieces during Music of the Theatre, creating one complete musical number! (Teacher: Lindsey Jones)

SECOND & THIRD GRADE (This group is FULL)

Let’s Dance: Calling all dancers! Campers are taught proper dance techniques as they learn choreography for several songs from popular musicals. During the second week, campers will learn to sing one of their pieces during Music of the Theatre, creating one complete musical number! (Teacher: Lindsey Jones)

 

Acting Up!: An introductory acting class for young actors. Campers learn how to use their voice, bodies, and imaginations to create different characters (Teacher: Brent Jones)

 

Music of the Theatre: Calling all singers! Campers will learn proper singing techniques such as breathing and voice placement as they learn songs from popular musicals. Improv: Kids say the darnedest things! Through improvisation games and exercises, campers will capitalize on their natural tendencies to say and do anything in a fun and creative environment (Teacher: Mary Kathryn Mathews)

FOURTH & FIFTH GRADE (This group is FULL)

Improv: Kids love to use their imagination! This class will allow the campers to channel their imaginations through various improvisation games and exercises (Teacher: Brent Jones)

 

I’ve Got Rhythm!: Calling all dancers! Campers are taught proper dance techniques as they learn choreography for several songs from popular musicals. The second week of camp, this class will combine with Music of the Theatre to combine the two mediums! (Teacher: Lindsey Jones)

SIXTH & SEVENTH GRADE

Music: Campers will learn advanced singing techniques, as well as begin to learn music theory and ear training (Teacher: Merry Livingston)

 

Getting the Role: Many agree that the most difficult aspect of theatre is auditioning. In this class, students will learn the skills necessary to execute a successful audition and land a role! (Teacher: Mary Kathryn Mathews)

 

Intro to Stage Makeup: Doing live theatre means thinking on your feet when things don't go as expected. Through improvisation games and exercises, campers will learn to become scene savers by thinking outside the lines (Teacher: Sara Margaret Cates)

EIGHTH THROUGH ELEVENTH GRADE

Acting: An advanced acting class for young actors. Campers use their voices, bodies, and imaginations to create different characters, as well as learn skills surrounding character development (Teacher: Jeff Wilson)

Behind the SEAMS: Learn about costume improvisation in the style of Project Runway. Take costume items and put them together to create an ensemble worthy of the stage (Teacher: Jeanette Waterman)
